The Himachal Pradesh State Government has significantly increased the prize money for medal winners in various international championships announced Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today. The new incentive structure is designed to boost the morale of athletes and promote sporting excellence.
Prize money of Gold Medal winner of Olympics, Winter Olympics, and Paralympics hiked from Rs. 3 Crore to Rs. 5 Cr, Silver Medal- from Rs. 2 Cr. to Rs. 3 Cr and Bronze Medal from Rs. 1 Cr. to Rs. 2 Cr.
Prize money of Asian and Para Asian Games Gold Medal winner increased from Rs. 50 lakh to Rs. 4 Cr., Silver Medal from Rs. 30 lakh to Rs. 2.50 Cr and Bronze Medal from Rs. 20 lakh to Rs. 1.50 Cr and Commonwealth and Para Commonwealth Game Gold Medal from Rs. 50 lakh to Rs. 3 Cr, Silver Medal from Rs. 30 lakh to Rs. 2 Crm and Bronze Medal from Rs. 20 lakh to Rs. 1 crore
Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized that this substantial increase in prize money is part of the new sports policy aimed at recognizing and encouraging the dedication and hard work of athletes representing Himachal Pradesh at the international level.
The policy is expected to not only enhance the morale of current athletes but also attract new talent to pursue excellence in sports, contributing to the overall development of sports in the state.
