Revival of Southwest Monsoon forecasted in Himachal Pradesh, Orange alert for 8 districts
Shimla, July 5
An orange alert has been issued in eight districts as the South West Monsoon system, which remained dormant for the past five days, is expected to revive, bringing heavy rainfall to many areas of Himachal Pradesh, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
Meanwhile in the past 24 hours, the monsoon activities have been limited to a few places in Kangra and Chamba districts. Notable rainfall measurements include 45.2 mm in Ghamroor (Kangra), 33 mm in Palanpur, 21.7 mm in Nahan (Sirmaur), and 21.2 mm in Guler (Kangra). The rest of the state experienced mainly dry and partly cloudy conditions, with insignificant downpours.
Unfortunately, a flash flood incident was reported in Village Khad, Police Thana Haroli, Sub Division Haroli. Due to heavy rain, a car got stuck in water, but the occupant was safely rescued. Moreover, approximately 8-10 houses have been affected by the flooding. The incident occurred around 9:45 am this morning.
Over the next three hours, heavy rainfall is expected in a few places in districts such as Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Sirmaur, Kullu, Solan, Una, Mandi, and Shimla, while widespread rainfall is anticipated in these districts.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the next four days, forecasting widespread rainfall across most areas of the state. The Met Office has also warned of thunderstorms and lightning in isolated places due to inclement weather conditions.
There have been no significant changes in the minimum and maximum temperatures over the past 24 hours.
