Seven second-year MBBS students at Medical College Nahan have been suspended for three months and fined ₹75,000 each for ragging their juniors. The decision follows an investigation by the Anti-Ragging Committee, which found the students responsible for subjecting their juniors to inappropriate behavior on November 26th.
According to Dr. Rajiv Tuli, Principal of Medical College Nahan, the incident involved forcing junior students to a private residence where they were subjected to prolonged standing, verbal abuse, and unusual punishments. While no physical injuries were reported, Dr. Tuli emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable and violates the dignity and safety of students.
This marks the second ragging incident at the institution this year. In March, nine trainees were suspended for 45 days and fined ₹50,000 each for similar offenses. The recurrence of these incidents has raised concerns about the prevailing disciplinary culture and student safety within the college.
The college administration has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards ragging, assuring students and parents that stringent measures will be implemented to prevent future occurrences.
