Shimla, Dec 27,
A seven-year-old girl who went missing after leaving her home in the Bhoranj area was safely traced by the police within a few hours and reunited with her family the same evening, officials said on Friday.
According to police, the incident occurred in a village under Bhoranj when the child, the eldest of three siblings, left her house following a minor disagreement with her mother. The family, which had migrated from Uttar Pradesh, resides in the area for livelihood. The girl’s father, a mechanic by profession, had gone to work in the morning, while her mother was at home managing household chores.
Police said the child had been watching cartoons on a mobile phone when her mother asked her to stop and eat her meal. After the girl ignored repeated requests and was scolded, she became upset and quietly walked out of the house without informing anyone. When the family realised that the child was missing and could not be located for a considerable time, they immediately alerted the local police.
Taking the matter seriously, police teams launched a swift search operation. CCTV footage from nearby areas was scanned, and teams were deployed across possible routes. The coordinated effort led to the girl being located nearly five kilometres away from her home after about four hours. She was found safe and unharmed and was escorted back to her family.
Superintendent of Police Balbir Singh said the prompt response and effective use of surveillance helped in tracing the child quickly. The family expressed immense relief and gratitude to the police for their timely action.
