A high alert has been announced in the Himachal Pradesh as Sikh for Justice, a Prokhalistan Sikh outfit, announced Khalistan Referendum on June 6, 2022, said the state police while beefing up the security in all major installations.
A police spokesperson accepted the activities of Prokhalistan SFJ in Himachal Pradesh, stating that an FIR has been lodged u/s 153-A, 153-B IPC and section 3 of HP Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1985, registered in Police Station, Dharamshala. Also, Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), the FIR named a US based Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, General Counsel to Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), as the main accused in the case.
State Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu said in a press statement today that keeping in view the incidents of pro Khalistani elements in neighbouring States, one such try about a Khalistani banner took place in Una district on 11.04.2022 , and this recent incidence of hoisting banners & graffiti of pro-Khalistan on the outer boundary of Vidhan Sabha in Dharamshala and the threat call given by Sikhs for Justice (SJF) regarding the announcement of 6th June 2022 as the voting date for the Khalistan Referendum in Himachal Pradesh; directions are issued to the field police teams to remain on high alert from today.
ADGP-CID, IG and DIG Ranges and Distt. SPs have been directed to seal all interstate borders and barriers and keep a strict vigil at probable hideouts, i.e. hotels and sarais etc. He said that they had been directed to keep the Special Security Units (SsUs), Bomb Disposal Squads and Quick Reactions Teams (QRTs) in position and on high alert and strengthen the security of dams, and railway stations, bus stands, towns, Government building and vital installations. The field formations have been directed to sensitise all the security staff or chowkidars of Government buildings, Banks, and Public Sector Undertakings about the threat, and they may be advised to report any matter of concern to the local police station immediately.
