Panic gripped parts of Shimla on Monday after multiple schools received bomb threat emails, prompting immediate evacuation of students and urgent calls to parents to pick up their children. The sudden alerts led to anxious scenes outside school premises as families rushed to ensure safety, while authorities moved swiftly to secure campuses.

Officials confirmed that no explosive material or suspicious item has been found so far, even as precautionary drills were carried out alongside the search operations.

Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh said that reports regarding bomb threats received via email by various schools in the Shimla region have come to our notice. As of now, these threats are general in nature and are not directed at any specific school. Taking these reports seriously, the District Police are undertaking prompt and coordinated action in accordance with standard security protocols, he stated.
Adding that, Comprehensive search operations have been conducted by police teams within the affected school premises. Each site is undergoing thorough inspection and verification. Necessary precautionary measures have been implemented to mitigate any potential risks; these include strengthening security arrangements within the premises and maintaining continuous coordination with the local administration and school management.
Currently, no untoward incident of any kind has been confirmed, confirmed the SP. The situation remains completely under control, and the police are maintaining constant vigilance, he affirmed
Adding that, ” We appeal to the general public, parents, and students not to pay heed to rumors, to maintain peace, and to remain alert.”
Cyber units are now analysing digital trails, including email routing and IP data, to identify those responsible and determine whether the threats were coordinated or the act of mischief. The incident mirrors a recent pattern in Himachal Pradesh where similar threats targeting public institutions later turned out to be hoaxes. Police have appealed to the public to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and report any suspicious activity as investigations continue.
