In light of a potential war-like situation, Solan Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma chaired a high-level emergency preparedness meeting today, directing all concerned departments to remain on alert and take immediate precautionary measures.

During the meeting, DC Sharma instructed officials to ensure that air raid sirens, particularly those used during blackouts, are in working order so that their sound can effectively reach the public during emergencies.
He directed the temporary shutdown or covering of all solar lights installed across the district. Additionally, streetlights in sensitive areas are to be switched off until further orders to minimize visibility during nighttime hours.
To strengthen response capabilities, DC Sharma assigned a Home Guard personnel to manage the siren system at Jawahar Park. The Fire Department has been directed to remain in a state of readiness to tackle any emergencies, while the Health Department has been instructed to stockpile essential medicines and ensure availability of doctors and paramedical staff as per state government guidelines.
Emphasizing public safety, Sharma directed educational institutions, colleges, and universities to conduct mock drills promptly to improve disaster response preparedness among students and staff.
The Deputy Commissioner also issued an appeal to residents of the district, advising them to avoid stepping out after dusk unless necessary and to follow advisories issued by the district administration from time to time. Citizens were also requested to keep their windows covered at night as a precautionary measure.
Present at the meeting were Additional Deputy Commissioner Rahul Jain, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Chandel, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dr. Poonam Bansal, Home Guard Commandant Santosh, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rakesh Pratap, and other senior officials from various departments.
The district administration urged collective cooperation from the public to ensure safety and effective management in case of any untoward situation.
