Temporary control room-cum-barrier setup at Chango in Kinnaur district to facilitate Apple movement

In response to ongoing challenges caused by heavy landslides, the District Magistrate of Kinnaur District, Torul S. Raveesh has issued a notification to establish a temporary Control Room-Cum-Barrier at Chango on National Highway 05 (NH-05) under the Pooh Sub-Division of Kinnaur District. This decision aims to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and vehicular movement, especially during the Apple Season of 2023.
The closure of NH-05 at Nigulsari due to the landslide necessitated this measure. <span;>Noteworthy that on September 8, this year a landslide near Nigulsari took toll on about 350 to 400 meter stretch of NH 5, which has cut off access to the district from Rampur side. Alternatively the District Administration has diverted the traffic flow through NH 505 via Kaza, Kunzum to Manali and beyond.
Under the powers vested by the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, and Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC), District Magistrate Torul S. Raveesh has mandated that the Control Room-Cum-Barrier at Chango will operate round the clock until NH-05 at Nigulsari is reopened. Also the Tehsildar Pooh and Naib Tehsildar Yangthang will serve as Magistrates on duty at the Control Room.

Adding that the Superintendent of Police, Kinnaur, will deploy adequate police force at the Control Room, complemented by staff from the Horticulture Department, stated the order.
Notably, previously registered vehicles will not require re-registration, and service charges for vehicle registration and the issuance of I-Cards will apply only once for vehicular movements on either side, stated the order.
