Shimla, August 18
Three persons died, and two others were injured in various rain-related mishaps which damaged five houses in the past 24 hrs, informed a state disaster Management authority spokesperson.
In the incident at Chamba, one lady and her girl child lost life. In this accident on the Manimahesh route, three other persons got injured. They were admitted to the civil hospital in Bharmour. However, one of them has been discharged now. An immediate relief fund of Rs 25000 has been given to the deceased family.
In another weather-created disaster, a house collapsed in Bhalwani village in the Hamirpur district. One person died on the spot in it. Interim relief of Rs. 20000/-has been given to the deceased person’s family. The deceased is identified as Sudesh Kumari w/o Hem Ram.
Meanwhile, near Asian Plaza HotelMcLeod Ganj in district Kangra, many trees have fallen due to heavy rains, and there is a possibility of more trees coming down. Also, Gushani to Pekhri &
Gushani to Bathad road is blocked due to a landslide under the Banjar subdivision of the Kullu district. Heavy rain blocked Shimla cart road near Bemloi due to a landslide on Wednesday. Road had been
blocked Completely for all types of vehicular movement. Now, this road is open.
A landslide occurred at Village Thanhku of Tikkar Panchayat, in Theog subdivision of Shimla, due to which three houses were damaged, and affected family Members (24-25 Persons) became homeless. Here, there is still a danger of Rockfall on other houses. Immediate Relief Rs:- 5000, including three tarpaulins, were distributed to the affected families.
An incident of falling Stone also occurred near Kali bari Temple of this town last night, sinking the road and may cause a landslide. The District administration has installed a barricade on the spot.
The State Administration has confirmed a loss of about 206 human lives and 120 animals. The rains have rendered a loss of around 1100 crore so far in the state.
