Three persons were hit by a shooting stone (boulders) during a landslide which occurred this afternoon near Menus under Shllai subdivision of Sirmaur district on Poanta-Sahib- Shallai National Highway 707 in Himachal Pradesh.
Spokesperson of state disaster management Sudesh Mokta said that shooting stones during a landslide) hit a Taxi and earthmover driver and a labourer when the widening work on Poanta Sahib- Shallai National highway 707 was under way by Poaklane near Menus.
The deceased were evacuated from under the debris. One died on the spot while two others were declared dead in Chopal Hospital.
The deceased are identified as Kahan Chand(Taxi driver -60) S/o Fakir R/o Sainj, PO Atal, Tehsil Tiyuni, Distt. Dehradun Uttrakhand, Jitender Singh (worker) S/o Sh. Khem Singh Rathor R/o Girwar, Tehsil Hurda, Distt Behlwara Rajasthan and Ashok (Poaklane driver) S/o Sh. Late U.B. Sharma, Village Rajgarh, Distt Churu, Rajasthan.
District Administration Sirmaur has sent SDM , Patwari to the incident site and bodies of the deceased are sent to Ronat (Shallai) and Chopal for Autopsy.
The district administration handed over immediate relief of Rs.10,000/ to the next of deceased. Deputy Superintendent of Police Virbhadur said that the two deceased
were engaged in widening works of Rs 1350 Cr NH Project 25 km works was handed over
to Dharatal Construction company.
