Shimla/ Nahan, Feb 1,
Paonta Sahib police have arrested two youths for allegedly dumping their friend’s body into a gorge near Manal village in Sirmaur district. The case was registered at Puruwala police station, and the arrests were made based on CCTV footage and cyber investigation. The accused were traced and apprehended from Yamunanagar.
According to the police, 27-year-old Vishank Bakshi was staying at his friend Vishesh Kamboj’s house. Vishesh, who works as a security guard, left for duty that night, while another friend, Yogesh Tyagi, was also present at the house.
By morning, when Vishesh returned from work and went to sleep, Yogesh had already left for his home. Later, when Vishesh woke up, he tried to wake Vishank but found him unresponsive. Panicked, he called Yogesh, and both decided to dispose of the body to avoid trouble. They dumped the corpse in a gorge near Manal village, close to Sataun.
On January 29, the Puruwala police received information about a suspiciously found body near Manal village. The police retrieved the body and sent it for postmortem while launching an investigation.
During the examination of CCTV footage and dump data, police identified a white Maruti car (HR-02N 8811) frequently moving around the crime scene. Based on this lead, the police tracked the vehicle in Yamunanagar and arrested the two suspects—25-year-old Yogesh Tyagi and 29-year-old Vishesh Kamboj—on January 30.
During interrogation, the accused confessed that Vishank Bakshi had died on the night of January 26. Out of fear, they decided to dispose of his body in the gorge near Manal village. The police are now investigating whether the death was natural or if foul play was involved.
DSP Paonta Sahib, Manvendra Thakur, confirmed the incident and stated that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death.
