Shimla, Oct 8,
In a tragic road mishap, two persons lost their lives and another sustained serious injuries when a Bolero vehicle plunged into a deep ravine near Khabal village in Shimla district early Wednesday morning.
According to police sources, the vehicle was on its way along the Rohru–Khabal road when it skidded off and rolled nearly 300 feet down the hillside. Locals who witnessed the accident immediately alerted the police, following which rescue and relief operations were launched.
The deceased have been identified as Vishal, a resident of Khabal village, and Rajvansh from Denwadi village. Both died on the spot due to multiple injuries. The injured, Kamaraj, son of Surendra Singh of Sondari village, was rescued in a critical condition and admitted to Rohru Hospital for treatment.
A police team has taken custody of the bodies for postmortem and registered a case to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that the vehicle may have lost control on the hilly stretch, though investigations are underway.
An official spokesperson confirmed that after postmortem examination, the bodies will be handed over to the families of the deceased.
Road accidents remain a recurring concern in the hilly terrain of Himachal Pradesh, often triggered by sharp curves, narrow roads, and poor visibility during early hours.
