Two women were killed and four other women tourists were injured when a raft capsized in the Beas river during river rafting at Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh on Friday. Superintendent of Police Kullu Gurudev Singh has confirmed the death of two tourists.
He said that the injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The condition of three of the injured is said to be normal while one is said to be critical. All the women hailed from Maharashtra and Indore had come to visit Manali.
According to the information received from the police, this incident took place around 1200 hrs on Friday when a Tourist party were enjoying rafting at Barli near Kullu town in the Beas river by boarding a raft. As per information the raft overturned near the Bashing area and three women drowned in the river water.
The rescue team pulled out the victims out of water, but during the condition of two women was critical, who died during treatment in the hospital. Police have identified the deceased women as Sakesh wife Ranvi Indore, Rukaiya (72) wife Dahod (Maharashtra).
While Tasneem wife Kheriwala, Mashim (47) wife Zainuddin (Indore), Nafisa wife Firoz Maharashtra and Rarida wife Qutvuddin have been injured.
Gurudev said that after getting information, they took both the bodies in their possession, at the spot and registered a case and started investigation.
