Under the Central government’s ambitious Har Ghar Nal Sejal scheme, no new connection was allocated in the capital Shimla. According to the Jal Shakti department report, under this scheme, no new connection has been installed in the capital Shimla from 2019 to 2022. While the maximum number of new connections, 27723 have been installed in the Sulah assembly constituency during this period. 13529 new connections in Jal Shakti Minister Mahender Singh Thakur’s assembly constituency and 18 thousand 928 in Chief Minister’s assembly constituency.
In a written reply to the question of MLA Narendra Thakur, Jal Shakti Minister Mahinder Singh Thakur said that the State government has given 8 lakh 69 thousand 440 new connections in the state during the last three years.
However, Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj’s assembly constituency could not get a connection in Shimla city in three years, that too when year after year, the capital Shimla is reeling from a water crisis.
