The Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Employees Union (HPSEBEU) vehemently denied the allegations made by the Electricity Board on July 5. The Board had accused the Union of leaking tender-related information from the Board of Directors to Assembly Members in Dharamshala. The Union branded these claims as unfounded and a diversion from the Board’s own shortcomings.
Union State President Kameshwar Sharma clarified that the allegations were first reported by electronic media, asserting that the leak had nothing to do with the Union’s opposition to the ongoing smart metering initiatives in the state. Sharma emphasized that the Union had no representation on the Board of Directors and was not privy to its proceedings. He pointed out that the Minutes of Meeting, a confidential document, could only have been accessed by those present at the meeting, implying that the leak likely originated from the Board’s management.
Sharma stressed that the Union has a long-standing reputation for integrity and does not engage in such activities. He assured that the Union remains committed to addressing its issues directly with the management and government, without resorting to covert actions. The Union called for a thorough investigation into how the confidential information reached the Assembly Members, highlighting the need for accountability within the management class.
General Secretary Heera Lal Verma reiterated the Union’s dedication to its principles and transparent operations, dismissing the Board’s attempt to shift the blame for its own failures onto the employees. The HPSEBEU stands firm in its mission to protect the interests of its members and ensure fair and honest practices within the Electricity Board.
