A major road accident was reported on National Highway–05 near Kingal under Kumarsain police station limits on Saturday, when a tempo traveller overturned, leaving all 18 onboard migratory workers injured.
The mishap triggered an immediate response from local police and emergency services, who shifted the injured to nearby health facilities.
According to official sources, nine of the injured were administered first aid at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Kumarsain, while the remaining nine, who sustained serious injuries, were referred to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGMSC), Khaneri, for advanced treatment. Hospital authorities stated that the condition of all the injured passengers is stable.
Preliminary information suggests that the tempo traveller was coming from the Nepal border towards Himachal Pradesh and was heading to Sainj and Ani via Kumarsain. All the passengers are reported to be migrant labourers.
Police have registered a case at Kumarsain police station in connection with the accident. Based on the written complaint of Hari Bahadur, a resident of Rukum district in Nepal, an FIR has been lodged against the driver, Bal Krishna, also a Nepal national, under Sections 281 and 125A of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The vehicle involved in the accident bears registration number (HP-01AA-7737). Himachal Pradesh Police have launched a detailed probe to ascertain the exact cause of the mishap.
