The fake Degree scam involving a Private university of state would not be handed over to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as a SIT of state police was probing the matter. This was stated by the Education Minister Govind Singh Thakur giving a written reply
to a query by Congress member Mukesh Agnihotri(Cong) during the question hour on Thursday.
Minister said that five accused namely Raj Kumar Rana, Munish Goel, Pramod Kumar, Anoop Thakur and K K Singh have been arrested in the matter and the probe is being done on priority by the Special Investigation Team.
Minister said that alleged scam occurred between 2009 to 2020 as the fake degrees were prepared and supplied and the investigation was continuing in the matter.
On a complaint received from the University Grant Commission(UGC) on Jan 6, 2020 made by T Nand Kumar on Dec 19 ,2019 state was informed that apart from other universities , Manav Bharati University, Solan of Himachal Pradesh is also allegedly involved in the crime of selling fake degrees.
Minister said that state police constituted a SIT to probe the matter on priority, therefore no contemplation is being made to hand over the probe to CBI.
