Making a tangible move to win over the surge of Covid pandemic over 20 percent population on Himachal Pradesh have been vaccinated, claimed the state government on Wednesday.
A total of 16.22 lakh vaccine shots have been given in the hill state so far to 14.13 lakh persons, of which more than 2 lakh people have received the second dose, a health department spokesperson said.
He said that Himachal is among the leading states in vaccination drive in the country and now plans are to vaccinate all people aged 18-45 years free of cost in government health facilities. There are around 31 lakh individuals in this age group in the state, he said.
“To vaccinate these people, we have placed an order of 73 lakh vaccine doses which are to be procured from the Serum Institute of India in a phased manner. The manufacturer told us that supplies will start after 3-4 weeks.
Those eligible must register themselves on the COWIN portal. For free of cost vaccination, they will have to wait till governement supplies start coming. They also have the option of getting vaccinated at private centres by paying the pre-declared fee,” he said.
State has designated all Chief Medical Officers of concerned districts as an appropriate authority at district level to take decision on the registration of new Private Covid Vaccination Centre (PCVC) on COWIN within two days of the receipt of the application or request of concerned private institutions.
The criteria for the registration of any private health facility to be operated as a Covid Vaccination Centre (CVC) must have sufficient cold chain equipment and capacity and rooms or space for waiting area, vaccination and observation post vaccination.
All CVC must also have sufficient number of trained vaccinators and verifiers alongwith the ability to manage the Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFI) , spokesman added.
