Inclement weather and snowfall in the upper hills of Himachal Pradesh has disrupted normal life after closing of two National Highways and 45 others roads and snapping power supply in 164 places in last 24 hrs confirmed a state Official. Spokesperson of State Emergency Operation Centre Shimla Sudesh Mokta said that National Highway – 505 is snowbound from Gramphu to Lossar and Manali-Leh NH – 03 is snowbound from Darcha to Sarchu.
He said that in subdivision Lahaul -35 roads, Spiti 10 , Pangi of Chamba and Nirmand of Kullu one road each are blocked by the snowfall. Total 47 road are affected by the snowfall since this morning including two national highways.
Power supply is also disrupted after the inclement weather and snowfall in 164 places as 65 distribution Transformer Regions (DTRs) are out of order in Spiti Subdivision of Lahaul Spiti, 56 DTRs in Kinnaur including 36 in Nichar and 20 in Kalpa subdivision and 43 DTRs in Kullu district including 42 in Manali Subdivision and one Thalot.
Light to moderate snowfall is recorded in Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu and Chamba district.
The General Administration has convened a meeting at Shimla on Thursday which was presided over by the chief minister Jai Ram Thakur to take stock of inclement weather conditions in the tribal areas and to make necessary arrangements for providing sufficient stock of food grains, essential commodities and fuel to meet the the situation.
State government has directed the concerned Deputy commissioner(s) to deploy the earthmovers in the high snowfall prone areas to launch Rescue and relief operations to evacuate people in case of emergency.
