Shimla, June 27,
A accident occurred on the Kalka-Shimla railway track on Wednesday night, resulting in the death of a person who was hit by a train. The incident happened near the railway station, where the individual, identified as a resident of the Parwanoo area, was struck and died on the spot.
The deceased was identified as Dila Ram (51), resident of Datyar village of Koti Nabh gram panchayat of Kasauli sub division.
Preliminary investigations by railway police revealed that Dila Ram was returning to his home through railway track when he was suddenly hit by the train near Gumma railway station. He was spotted by some passersby who informed the Koti Panchayat up – pardhan Laxmi Dutt Attri at around 8.20 pm. The up – pardhan than informed the Parwanoo police that passed the intimation to railway police.
Kandaghat railway police station SHO Jai Kishan after receiving the information reached the spot and sent the body to ESI hospital Parwanoo for post mortem examination. The train involved in the incident was traveling from Shimla towards Kalka.
Inspector Kulwant Negi of the railway police confirmed the occurrence of the accident. He stated that an in-depth investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the unfortunate event. The Kalka-Shimla railway line, known for its heritage status, is a historic track that has been operational for over a century, providing a vital connection between the two towns.
