Bail was denied to the accused Director health Services Ajay Kumar Gupta in the alleged bribery case. “He had filed petition for bail which came up for hearing before the court today. After hearing the arguments/ reply of the prosecutor the counsel of the accused preferred to withdraw the bail petition. The accused will now have to remain in judicial custody. Investigation in the case is on” stated ADG Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau Anurag Garg.
The Vigilance and anti corruption Bureau of Himachal Pradesh had arrested Dr Ajay Gupta DHS on allegations of Bribery. Couple of days a audio pertaining to state health department was reported, in which certain dubious transactions were mentioned worth amount 5 lac.
Though as reported, it was not clear from the audio recording that which transactions were being mentioned. But since the matter came to light in a time when health department is making lot purchases to fight the virus, so understanding the seriousness Additional Chief secretary RD Dhiman ordered a vigilance inquiry into the matter. Hereafter the arrest was made.
After that the accused doctor was taken to IGMC for check-up where he was admitted for complaints of diabetes and BP. Investigation by SIU is in progress, added ADG.
