Admin concerned over  Kinner Kailash and Manimahesh yatra, Schedule from Aug 15 & Sept 7

The Kinnaur and Chamba district administrations are expressing concerns about the organization of the Kinner Kailash (Kk) and Manimahesh (Mm) Yatra. The yatra was originally scheduled to take place from August 15 and September 7, respectively.

To address the situation, a meeting was presided over by Dr. Major Shashank Gupta, the Sub-Divisional Officer of Kalpa in Kinnaur. The meeting aimed to reschedule the Kk Yatra for the period from August 15 to August 30, and the Mm Yatra from September 7 to September 23. During the meeting, Dr. Gupta directed officials from various departments to ensure all necessary preparations are completed on time to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the yatra.

The security and well-being of the pilgrims were emphasized during the meeting. Dr. Gupta instructed the police and home guard officials to deploy sufficient manpower to ensure passenger security and address emergencies. Additionally, a quick response team was to be established. The medical department was also directed to provide medical facilities along the yatra route and fulfill any medical needs of the pilgrims.

The Forest Department was assigned the responsibility of improving and smoothening the roads, as well as installing CCTV cameras along the yatra route. The Jal Shakti Department was tasked with ensuring water availability during the yatra.

The registration process for the yatra began on August 5, 2023. Participants could register either online at or through offline methods facilitated by the District Tourism Department. A total of 350 individuals were allowed to travel daily, with 200 online registrations and 150 offline registrations. It was mandatory for travelers to possess a medical certificate from a recognized doctor, issued no more than 15 days prior to the journey.

Deputy Commissioner Apoorva Devgan visited the tribal sub-division Bharmour to assess the preparations for the Mm Yatra. He obtained information about the action plan for arrangements and provided necessary guidance to relevant departments. Additionally, Devgan inspected the prevention work being carried out by the PWD to combat landslides in the Pranghala drain on the Bharmour-Hadsar link road. The PWD Bharmour was instructed to complete the Pranghala bridge and drain work prior to the start of the Mm Yatra. In attendance during these assessments were SP Abhishek Yadav, ADM Bharmour Naveen Tanwar, SDM Bharmour Kulbir Singh Rana, and officials from various departments.
