Himachal Pradesh Government stated today that the Covid testing forteachers was not made mandatory before opening of educational institutions moreover as many as 541 teachers were tested positive for Novel CoronaVirus before Jan 31, 2021in the state.
Education Minister Gobind Thakur said to a query of BJP member of Assembly RameshDhawala supplying a written reply that as many as 20750 teachers have undergone Covid testing after Jan 31, 2021 out of which as many as 541 teachers were tested positive.
Minister said that Covid testing for the teacher was not made mandatory under the Covid protocol before opening the institutions. Moreover, the Health department on the precautionary basis conducted testing of as many as 20750 teachers.
In Kangra district 140 tests found positive out of the total test conducted of 9655 teachers. In In Shimla district 78 tests were found positive out of 691, 72 in Una out of 2349, 65 in Mandiout of 2575, 47 in Sirmaur out of 2007, 42 in Chamba out of 2169, 35 in Hamirpur out of 82123 in Solan out of 133, 21 in Kullu out of 36 , 18 in Bilaspur out of 114, respectively.
In lahaul Spiti district 200 teachers were undergone testing however no one found positive moreoverno tests of teachers were conducted in the Kinnuar district, he added.
