BJP MLA and deputy speaker Vidhan Sabha slaps a student in classroom

The Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Deputy speaker Hans Raj slapped a student while addressing children in a classroom on Friday. The incident took place in the Government Senior Secondary school Rela at Churah in the assembly constituency of the BJP MLA, while he was on a surprise inspection with media. The incident got captured on camera while the Deputy Speaker was sensitising the children in a class about not bringing mobile phones to the school.
In the video, it can been seen that a student laughed during these proceedings, and the MLA, in rage, slapped him. The students were sitting on a carpet sheet, and the classroom appeared to be shabby in the video.
It is worth mentioning that recently BJP leaders have been challenged by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia for competing with Delhi-NCR on the model Education. Party OSD Trilok Jamwal condemned Sisodia for issuing the challenge by quoting the National Development index, in which the state was adjudged second after Kerala for primary education.
The issue is likely to hit the ruling party during this electioneering period. The opposition and Children’s welfare organisations have condemned his behaviour. They have said that an MLA is not expected to slap any student while informally interacting with them.
Alobe Chauhan, Chief pattern of Himachal Jawahar Bal Munch has complained to SP Chamba, in this matter. He said that slapping a student and threats issued by the Deputy speaker inside the classroom were unfortunate. He noted that the Deputy speaker should tender his resignation for his conduct. Adding, he should express an apology to students. Chauhan alleged that the MLA seemed furious over the recent protest of parents and students against the government over the shortage of teachers in the school. The MLA was also facing Social media condemnation over this incident.
