The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast a very high chance of celebrating white Christmas and new year 2022. As per Met department a Western disturbances will be creating the inclement weather.
Issuing the expected impact and advisory of Heavy rain or snow the Met Office warned that under the influence of two WDs effective from Dec 24 and 26 2021 may create possibility of Thunderstorm, lightening and hailstorm in the plain, low and mid hills on Dec 26.
” Moderate to heavy snowfall in mid and high hills including Shimla town with effect from late 26 and 27 for subsequent two days”, there is yellow warning to be.prepared for disruption in essential services including power communication, blockage of road, degreasing visibility and affecting other services added the spokesperson of Met Office.
Mid Hills including Shimla, Kullu part of Shimla district and Chamba and high reaches including Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra and Solan districts are likely to receive rain or snow at most places on Dec 26 and 27. The mid and high hills likely to rain or snowfall in isolated places on Dec 24 and Dec 25 from today onward.
Till this afternoon there was no report of rain or snow in the state however it was partly cloudy in the morning.
Also, today all types of tourists vehicles
are allowed to enter the Lahaul valley via Atal Tunnel Rohtang barring two wheelers between 1000 hrs to 1500 hrs moreover they were allowed to go beyond Sissu.
District Administration Lahaul spiti advised people and tourists due to overcast weather conditions to avoid travel after 1500 hr . All types of Vehicles of Pangi and Lahaul valleys are allowed to cross the Lahaul Spiti district however drivers are cautioned to adhere all safe winter driving habits on National Highway No- 03.
Three national highways including NH-3 is blocked between Darha to Sarchu. NH 305 in Kulul and NH505 blocked from Gramphu to Lossar. About 33 other linke roads are snowbound in the Lahaul, Udaipur and Pangi subdivision of Lahaul Spiti and Chamba district. Seven water supply scheme are disrupted due to freezing of water supply lines in the Lahaul and Udaipur subdivision, district administration official confirmed.
The tourist industry which is facing the burnt of Covid pandemic since last two years may get some respite due to favourable weather conditions.
The night temperature improvised by two degrees as it was normal in last 24 hrs. Keylong in Lahaul Spiti was minus 3.7 degrees and five degrees high of yesterday. Kalpa was minus two degrees, Manali 1.2 degrees, Sundernagar in Mand two degrees, Bhuntar 2.2 degrees, Solan 2.4 degrees, Dharmshala 2.6 degrees, Hmairpur three degrees and Mandi 3.2 degrees
Bilaspur 3.5 degrees, Dalhousie 3.6 degrees Kufri four degrees, Poantashahib 5.5 degrees, Shimla six degrees, Chamba 6.7 degrees, Una Kangra and Jubberhati seven degrees each and Nahan in Sirmuar 9.5 degrees respectively.
