Tapovan, Dec 11
State Government would constitute a high level panel under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to solve the serious vagaries of the citizens living around the cantt area in  Nahan, one of the oldest and historical township of state.
Stating this in the state assembly Jal Shakti and Sainik Welfare Minister Mohinder Singh Thakur announced in response to the discussion on the calling attention motion moved by MLA Dr. Rajiv Bindal in the Vidhan Sabha on Saturday.
Singh said that the state station Commanders of the Military would be included in this committee, so that a quick and permanent solution could be found after considering it at a higher level.   He said that the government is trying to solve the problems of the people living near the military areas.  He said that the matter of transfer of land to give relief to the people living along the Nahan Military Area is under consideration with the Army.
He said that the demarcation of the military area has already been done and this has also been accepted by the court.  As such, a fresh demarcation cannot be done.  This demarcation was done on 28 July 2015.
Mahendra Singh also claimed that the construction process in the military sector has been simplified, so that the case of local residents can be recommended for grant of construction material permission by the army officials. He said that the entire sector has been divided into three sectors and three days each have been fixed for each sector of the Army as well as the employees of the Revenue Department.
He said that the station commander has also given permission to move the construction material from the military area after joint inspection. He said that according to the decision taken in the meeting, at the time of verification of the applications by the concerned Patwari, a joint inspection of the spot would be done by the representative of the Army.
Earlier, BJP member Dr. Rajiv Bindal raised this issue and said that in Nahan assembly constituency, there is a population of 5 thousand which is completely affected due to army.  He said that the local people were not allowed electricity, water, construction of houses and repair of houses for months.
Dr. Bindal also said that for the first time in 1982, for the solution of the problems being faced by these people, the then MP Late.  KD Sultanpuri had taken up the matter with the Defense Ministry and since then there have been continuous efforts, but till now the matter has not been resolved. Dr. Bindal said that if the issue of transfer of land with the army comes to an end, then people living here for more than one hundred years will get relief.
He said that here 300 meters area to be built under PMGSY is on the outskirts of the army, but due to military intervention, work is not being done on it.
Due to non-construction of this road, the population of five thousand is being lost.  He also demanded its solution.
