CM applauds SC for staying RaGa conviction
Shimla, Aug 4
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has lauded the recent decision by the Supreme Court of India to grant a stay on the conviction of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Expressing his approval of the Supreme Court’s move to temporarily suspend the conviction of senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Chief Minister emphasized that truth has ultimately prevailed.
He highlighted that Mr. Gandhi had consistently used his platform in Parliament to raise concerns about the Central Government’s divisive politics and policies that negatively impact the public.
The Chief Minister alleged that Mr. Gandhi’s disqualification as a Member of Parliament was a result of a political conspiracy aimed at targeting him and preventing his participation in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Mr. Sukhu noted that the conspiracy aimed to stifle the influential voice of Rahul Gandhi, particularly after the success of his ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, which had resonated with the people.
The Union Government orchestrated the revocation of Rahul Gandhi’s parliamentary membership, but the recent decision by the Supreme Court has provided him with respite. The Congress party extends a warm welcome to the Supreme Court’s ruling.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that Rahul Gandhi will soon return to Parliament to champion the concerns of the citizens of India against the autocratic practices of the opposition.
Sukhu speculated that this decision could potentially pave the way for unified opposition under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Congress party, led by Rahul Gandhi and in alliance with the United India coalition, is committed to a vigorous struggle against the authoritarian policies of the BJP. The Chief Minister added that no effort would be spared in this endeavor.
