BJP legislature party calls for timely convening of monsoon session in HP
Shimla, Aug 4
The BJP legislature party is calling for an early convening of the Monsoon session of the state assembly, according to party spokesperson Randhir Sharma. During a party legislature meeting in Shimla, several assembly members raised concerns about the state government’s delay in distributing calamity funds to families affected by recent disasters. Although the central government has already allocated sufficient funds to the state, the state government plans to hold the Monsoon session in mid-September.
The BJP MLAs are urging the government to hold the session on time and address the issues related to rain-damaged roads and infrastructure. A resolution was passed during the meeting, demanding the immediate commencement of the Monsoon session and timely release of disaster funds.
MLA Randhir Sharma highlighted the extensive damage caused by heavy rains in the state, leading to the loss of many lives. In response to this calamity, the BJP Legislature Party gathered in Shimla to express their condolences for the approximately 200 lives lost. All party MLAs attended the meeting after visiting their respective constituencies and encouraged the opposition leader to push for the Monsoon session to take place in August.
The BJP MLAs criticized the ruling Congress party for allegedly politicizing the disaster situation, despite substantial financial assistance provided by the central government. The BJP is demanding that the assistance funds be directly transferred to the bank accounts of those affected, rather than being distributed by Congress leaders. Randhir Sharma pointed out the risk of corruption due to the distribution of cash by Congress officials
