Shimla, Mar 19
Himachal Pradesh Government stated in the assembly on Friday that it would await the post mortem report of BJP parliamentarian Ramswaroop Sharma who died under mysterious circumstances in his residence in Delhi on Thursday. Responding to the issue raised by the Congress legislative party leader Mukesh Agnihotri, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that matter is not under jurisdiction of the state government as the mishap occurred in Delhi. The postmortem report is yet to come and it should be awaited. He said that the way people are speculating in social media and making posts without verifying the facts is very disheartening and one should refrain from such speculations.
Thakur said that as far as the question of CBI inquiry is concerned it is too early to express such views without verifying the facts and circumstances of the mishap. CM said that family members did not show any such concerns which are being expressed in social media.
He said that death of Sharma is big jolt to the party and ashes and fire of his pyre is yet not cold while speculations are making rounds in social media.
Talking about the issue, Suresh Bhardwaj said Sharma was elected from India’s second largest parliamentary constituency and he was allotted accommodation at Delhi along with other MPs. His body was recovered from his residence and Delhi police is now conducting postmortem and FIR has been registered. Minister said that the incident happened in Delhi therefore the matter is not in the preview of state Government. Sharma was known to Prime ministers and his death is a big loss to the party. The way a former assistant advocate General made a social media post about the mysterious death of BJP MP is highly unfortunate.
Opposition concerns in the matter
Earlier raising the issue under point of order in the state assembly after question hours
Opposition leader Mukesh Agnihotri stated that Late Sharma was very gentle and sensitive person, he could not commit suicide and his death should be probed.
” We want to refrain from such words however there is speculation about his death and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur stated to the media also that if family members would want a probe, it would be ordered. ” Agnihotri said in the house.
” No suicide note was recovered, no statement came forth by the MP before taking extreme step. He also took the Covid vaccination four days before this mishap. He took food properly before this incident. These facts shows that there were no big reason to take such an extreme step,” pointed the Cong leader.
” Congress is raising this issue not to politicize or for seeking a probe, he added. The State has lost an MP who remained above controversy and achieved a number of things in public life, stated Agnihotri. Yet, since different theories are being cooked, they should be probed to alleviate the suspicions, he added.
”  A big journalist of TV Sandeep Chudhary has stated in his tweet that Ramswaroop  Sharma was about to resign along with two other BJP MPs and a number of such suspicions are making rounds in the social media.  Son and family members of MP have been stated that he did not have any health complications or complaint before the incident, ” he added. Besides when an actress of the state Kangana Rannaut could demand CBI probe in the suicide case of Sushant Rajput, why is she silent here, especially when demise happened in a similar way and here it involves a man of such political stature who represented 17.50 lakh people. ” said the Congress leader.
