Preparing for the worst in the prevalent COVID-19 pandemic era, the Rural Development department of Himachal Pradesh under National livelihood mission plans to bring back ‘Barter system’ in villages of the state.
Lalit Jain Director of the department said that in order to promote ‘barter system’ in the rural area of HP almost 3000 women farmers are being motivated to develop kitchen garden in minimum land so that necessary vegetables could be grown in the village itself. Adding that 11 young professionals have been deputed to guide women farmers and prepare them for barter system and also ensure that the products of the female farmer are sent to the market so their produce could get appropriate rates in the market.
He also stated that more than 50 self help groups are preparing almost 15000 masks on daily basis. “To fulfil the continuous demand of the mask in the state almost 2000 women’s of 250 self help groups have devoted for making mask in the state.”
He said that One lack masks have been given to various departments/institutions in the state so far and making of mask continues on war footing.
