Himachal Pradesh Critical Covid mortality is much above the national levels as 60 to 70 people are dying every day. Latest among the victims include entire family and a Covid warrior at IGMC.
The Critical Covid Mortality of the state is around 1.44 percent as againt that of 1.09 per cent as according to state data daily number of deaths due to covid. The same has shot up from 28 in the beginning of this month to 70 on Sunday, according to government data.
A Covid victim belong to Anji village of Bagi Gram Panchayat identified as Rami died a week ago and his wife Santosh died at IGMC this morning due to the pandemic. Six month ago their alone son has been died in bike mishap. With death of couple the entire family ended. The cremation of Santosh was held at Kanlog today.
Senior Medical Superintendent of IGMC Dr Janak Raj said that a staff nurse who was a covid warrior
died due to Covid infection at IGMC. She was hospitalized at General ICU ward of IGMC . The Staff nurse was tested positive on April 29 , he said.
A total of 827 covid patients in the state have died this month till Sunday, with nearly a quarter of those deaths reported in the three days from Friday to Sunday. On Monday, 58 covid patients had died till 1900 hrs.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 2369 people have lost lives in the state due to covid-related illnesses, as per the official death count. The data does not reflect the deaths of covid patients from the state who passed away after being referred to hospitals outside the state.
*High positivity rate*
Himachal currently has more than 34 thousand active cases of covid, and as per the central government’s latest health bulletin, seven out of 12 districts in the state are currently recording a positivity rate of more than 20 percent.
For the week ending May 14, Himachal recorded a positivity rate of 26.1 percent, which was the eighth-highest in the country.
On Sunday, around 2,400 new infections were reported in the state, while around 5,000 patients recovered from the disease. According to the state government, over 90 percent of covid patients are in home isolation.
Vaccination drive for people aged 18 to 44 years began in 213 centres across Himachal on Monday, said chief minister Jai Ram Thakur. He said that more than 21 thousand people in this age group have booked their vaccination appointment till now, and the vaccination for this age group will next be carried out on May 20, and then on May 24, 27 and 31.
