Shimla, Jan 7,
A devastating fire engulfed the wooden house of Shyam Lal, son of Diwan Chand, in the village of Kutada last evening at around 8:30 PM.
The blaze, which quickly consumed the entire structure, left Shyam Lal’s family in mourning and destitution.
Tragically, Shyam Lal’s mother, Dosari Devi, wife of Diwan Chand, lost her life in the incident, while all the family’s belongings were reduced to ashes.
The fire, suspected to have started due to a possible electrical short circuit or kitchen-related mishap, spread rapidly due to the wooden construction of the house. Despite desperate attempts by the villagers to douse the flames, the structure could not be saved.
The district administration promptly responded to the tragedy, providing an immediate relief amount of Rs 10,000 to the grieving family.
Officials confirmed that further compensation and support would be provided in accordance with the Fire Manual. “This is a heartbreaking incident.
The administration stands with the family in this hour of need, and we will ensure they receive the required assistance,” said a district official.
The same night, on the Spailg-hati road of Rohru, another fire incident led to the loss of another life, highlighting the urgent need for fire safety measures in the region.
Shyam Lal and his family are now grappling with the dual tragedy of losing their home and a beloved family member. The village community has rallied to support the family, offering help and solidarity in their time of grief.
