In a major success against drug trafficking, Shimla Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered 64 grams of heroin, commonly known as chitta, during a naka near Taradevi in Shimla district.
According to police, a case FIR No. 83/2026 was registered on May 10 at Police Station West Shimla under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
Superintendent of Police Shimla Gaurav Singh said that a team of the Special Cell was on patrol, traffic checking and crime prevention duty in the Taradevi area when it received specific information that two persons travelling in a car from Shoghi towards Shimla were carrying a huge quantity of heroin/chitta for supply to local youth.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the police team laid a naka near the Taradevi-Tutu bifurcation and intercepted the suspicious vehicle. During the search of the vehicle, police recovered 64 grams of chitta along with cash suspected to be linked to drug trafficking.

The accused have been identified as Karan, 35, a resident of Kalston in Shimla, and Karan Verma, 30, a resident of Theog in Shimla district.
Both accused were arrested on the spot and are being produced before the court. Police said that further investigation is underway to trace forward and backward links of the drug network and to ascertain the source and intended recipients of the contraband.
Shimla Police stated that its drive against narcotics smuggling and drug peddling in the district would continue with full force to protect the youth from the menace of drugs.
