Reports arriving that Son of retired IAS officer Amitabh Awasthi, Mudit Awasthi (26) was discovered deceased in his room in Brockhurst, Chhota Shimla. Authorities suspect suicide by hanging.
The Chhota Shimla police swiftly responded to the distressing news, initiating an investigation upon securing the scene and the body. Though no official statement has been given by the police department till the filing of this report and the motive behind the tragic incident remains unclear, but preliminary findings hint at possible stress-related factors.
Amitabh Awasthi, a native of Kangra district and retired IAS officer, retired last year on July 31. Despite his retirement, he continued to be active in public service, appointed by the government as the chairman of the Water Commission. However, this appointment faced legal challenges, with the State High Court recently deeming the formation of the Water Commission unconstitutional.
