Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Himachal Pradesh has taken strict disciplinary action against party workers accused of contesting elections against officially authorized BJP candidates in the ongoing Panchayati Raj and urban local body elections.
According to a press release issued by the BJP state office on Friday, the party’s Disciplinary Committee treated the matter as a serious breach of organizational discipline after examining complaints received from various district and mandal units.
Acting on the recommendations of the committee, BJP State President Rajeev Bindal ordered the immediate suspension of the primary membership of six party workers associated with Municipal Corporation Dharamshala and Nagar Parishad Nahan.
Those suspended include former Mayor Onkar Nehria from Ward No. 2, former Deputy Mayor Tejendra Kaur from Ward No. 6, Dharamshala Urban Mandal Secretary Saroj Guleria from Ward No. 8, Booth President Mitul Shukla from Ward No. 14, and Mahila Morcha Mandal Secretary Himanshi Agarwal from Ward No. 1 of Municipal Corporation Dharamshala. In addition, Leela Saini from Ward No. 3 of Nagar Parishad Nahan has also been suspended from the party’s primary membership.

The BJP stated that organizational discipline remains paramount and any activity against officially supported candidates would not be tolerated at any level. The party emphasized that BJP is a cadre-based organization where discipline and organizational dignity are non-negotiable.
The state leadership also appealed to party workers to place organizational interests above personal ambitions and work collectively to ensure the victory of BJP-backed candidates in the forthcoming Panchayati Raj and Municipal Corporation elections across the state.
