Former Horticulture Minister from BJP, Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Chief Whip and member of Assembly from Jubbal and Kotkhai Narinder Bragta died in PGI Chandigarh this morning.
A facebook post made by his son Chetan Bragta on his face book account about one hours ago confirmed the his demise.Post said that his father who was undergoing treatment a for last few days took his last birth early today.
Bragta was tested positive for nCoV recently and undergone als have undergone heart surgery two years. He was reported critical in PGI for couple of days. He was 69 and was born in the family of Mrs Ginda Bragta and Surat Singh Bragta on 15th September, 1952 at Shimla. He was educated to Post Graduate (Political Science), from HP University Shimla; married to Pushpa Bragta; He left behind two sons.
He was prominent horticulturist. He join public life with appointment as President of party Janata Yuva Morcha,( 1978-82). He also hold various posts on party platform like farmers and Fruit Growers, Kisan Morcha, leader, (, 1993-98;)
He was also General Secretary, Bhartiya Janata Party Distt. Shimla, (1983-87) Executive Member, State BJP, (1993-2018); and Secretary, National Kisan Morcha ,(1994-96).
Elected to State Legislative Assembly in (1998) from Shimla Constituency; re-elected in December, (2007) from Jubbal-Kotkhai.
Remained Minister of State for Horticulture (Independent Charge) 1998-02; and Horticulture, Technical Education and Health Minister, 30th December, 2007 to December, 2012.
Re-elected to the thirteenth Vidhan Sabha (3rd term) in December, 2017; nominated as Chairman, Public Under Undertakings; and Member, Rules and Library & Member, Amenities Committees.
After his election from Jubbal and Kotkhai in 2017 he was appointed by as Chief Whip of Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha.
