Himachal Pradesh High court today barred a disqualified ruling party councillor of the Shimla Municipal Corporation Sanjeev Sood from partipating in house meetings. The court also seeked SMC’s past records about him.
This order was passed by the Division bench of Himachal Pradesh High court Comprising acting chief justice Ravi Malimath and justice Joytsana Rewal while hearing a writ petition filed by Rakesh Kumar here today.
Talking about it the counsel for the petitioner Adv Sanjeev Bhushan informed that the Court has also ordered the SMC to submit records of the councillor detailing the number of meetings he attended after his disqualification from the house since Nov last year. The court has also seeked records of the decisions taken on his recomendations.
The Court fix next date of hearing after the four week of issuing this order. The ruling party nominated Councillor Sood was disqualified from his member ship by the Director, Urban Development in an order passed on Nov 2 2020 for encroachment of Government land and submission of false affidavit before the department during his nomination. Petitioner said that councillor has encroached upon Government land and had done illegal construction of 5.25 square meter.
