Hike in VAT on diesel: State income Rs 123 Cr

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated in the State assembly today that state registered increase in the revenue of tune to Rs 128 Crore after hike in the Value Added Tax on the Diesel and increase in the revenue is around 40 Cr more than previous year.

Replying to a query raised by Sukh Ram Choudhary (Poanta Sahib) Chief Minister said that state government has generated income of Rs 468.60 Cr from the VAT imposed on the diesel. In the same period last year from January 1, 2022 to August 2022, the total income of the government from VAT on diesel was Rs 344.71 Cr.
It is worthwhile to mention that state government increased the VAT on diesel from Rs 4.40 per litre to Rs 7.40 per litre early this year .
