The Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly has once again cemented its reputation as one of the most efficient and well-governed legislative houses in the country. With a record 100 per cent attendance in previous sessions and a commendable 35 sittings completed, the Assembly continues to set a high benchmark for legislative productivity and discipline.

As the state prepares for the eighth session of the 14th Legislative Assembly and the third budget session under the current government, Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania assured that all necessary arrangements have been finalized.
The session is scheduled to commence on March 10 at 2:00 pm with the Governor’s address and will continue until March 28, spanning 16 sittings. Notably, barring a holiday for Holi and the customary Sunday break, the Assembly will even convene on Saturdays to ensure smooth proceedings.
The Speaker emphasized the importance of meaningful discussions on public issues, urging both the ruling and opposition members to uphold the traditions and dignity of the House. To facilitate coordination and ensure a constructive atmosphere, a party meeting has been scheduled for March 9, bringing together Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan, Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania, and Chief Whip (Opposition) Sukh Ram Chaudhary.
During this session, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will present the budget estimates for the financial year 2025-26 on March 17. The discussion on budget estimates will take place from March 18 to 21, followed by deliberations and voting on demands from March 24 to 26. The Appropriation Bill will be introduced, discussed, and passed on March 26. Additionally, March 22 and 27 have been designated for non-official business.
The Assembly has received a total of 963 questions from members, including 737 starred and 226 unstarred questions, covering issues such as road conditions, education, health infrastructure, tourism, employment, and disaster management. Apart from these, various notices under different rules have also been submitted, reflecting a broad spectrum of public concerns.
To ensure the session proceeds without interruptions, security and logistical arrangements have been meticulously planned. Meetings with senior officials were held to review transport, security, and infrastructure readiness, ensuring a seamless legislative process. The Public Works and Electricity Departments have also completed necessary maintenance and upgrades within the Assembly premises.
Highlighting the state’s commitment to legislative excellence, Pathania lauded the disciplined participation of all 68 members and the Assembly’s remarkable track record in maintaining full attendance.
He reiterated his call for constructive debates, urging members to focus on public interest issues within the framework of parliamentary decorum.
Earlier today Speaker also presided press gallery committee meeting in Vidhan Sabha Secteriat and requested media to help in effective session by giving sufficient coverage.
