Shimla, April 6 – Himachal CM’s plea to follow COVID 19 protocol falls on Deaf Ears at Hanuman Jayanti Celebrations
Himachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister recently appeal to the public to wear masks and follow COVID-19 safety protocols in public places, seems to have fallen on deaf ears. As, hundreds of citizens and tourists flocked to the Jakhu peak in Shimla to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti without following safety protocols.
Not only regular citizens, even most of the temple pandits, most policemen on duty as well as many heavy-weight personalities, who were there to fetch blessing from Lord Hanuman, were witnessed without practicing any safety protocol to avoid the spread of Virus.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a global crisis that has affected people’s lives in countless ways. Governments and health officials worldwide have been urging citizens to follow safety protocols to contain the spread of the virus, including wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and washing hands regularly. However, despite these efforts, some individuals refuse to comply with these measures.
As the writer visited the Jakhu temple, it was found that only a tiny percentage of people were wearing masks, despite being aware of the ongoing COVID-19 wave. When asked why they were not wearing masks, many visitors did not have any authentic answers, showing a lack of concern for their own health and the well-being of others.
While a few visitors stated that they could not wear a mask while climbing on the steep uphill to the temple, but even those were not seen masked-up when standing in queues to await their turn for fetching the Lord’s blessing.
It is important to note that wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and washing hands regularly are some of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of the virus.Â
Yet, it is disheartening to see that some citizens still refuse to follow safety protocols despite the ongoing pandemic. These measures are for personal protection and the protection of others, especially those who are more vulnerable, such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.

Here, it is important to remember that the pandemic is not over, and everyone must follow safety protocols to keep themselves and others safe.
Following COVID-19 safety protocols is crucial, especially in crowded public places like religious sites. Individuals must take responsibility for their own health and the health of others by wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and washing hands regularly.
