Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) has issued the counselling schedule for admission to its Ph.D. (Commerce) programme for the 2026 academic session. The counselling will be held on July 2 and 3, 2026, at the Department of Commerce, HPU, Shimla, for candidates who have applied online under both Regular and Part-Time categories.
According to the notification issued by the Department of Commerce, counselling will be conducted from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. During the process, candidates will also be required to present their research proposals before the selection committee. Attendance has been made mandatory, and candidates failing to appear on the scheduled date and time will not be considered for admission.

Applicants have been directed to bring original documents along with self-attested photocopies of all academic certificates and mark sheets, including matriculation, 10+2, graduation and post-graduation qualifications. Candidates belonging to reserved categories must also produce relevant certificates such as Category, EWS, PWD, Bonafide and UGC-JRF/NET, wherever applicable. A brief research proposal is also required for presentation during the counselling and interview.
The university has clarified that only candidates possessing a Master’s degree are eligible for admission. Applicants have also been advised to carefully read the HPU Ph.D. Regulations, 2025 (Revised), and the Addendum for the Part-Time Ph.D. Programme, 2026. Candidates seeking admission under the Part-Time category must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer in the prescribed format.
