Himachal Pradesh University has decided to launch four years Bachelor Degree Hotel Management courses in the campus soon. Director of hotel management department said here in a press statement today that students who enrolled in the three year degree courses BHM till 2019 will also be considered valid.
Director Institute of Vocational Studies Prof. Chander Mohan Parsheera said that Himachal Pradesh University had started a three-year degree course for hotel management in 2011 and suspended the course in 2013 finding constraints in the desired infrastructure. Later the University started same course in year 2020 once the new building was constructed.
In 2014, UGC had declared that the duration of hotel management course is to be completed in four years, but meanwhile HP University had already suspended this degree whereas the same was being run in affiliated colleges.
On 18th March 2020, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) had issued a notice where it mentioned that the students enrolled in the three year hotel management degree course before March 2019 will also be considered valid.
Director of Institute said that institute has prepared a syllabus of hotel management for a four year duration and from the oncoming session, it would be implemented in hotel management. Also for the students enrolled after 2019, there will be one extended year of studies including a six months internship, he added.
According to him, none of the students will suffer considering the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) notification which is the apex body in technical education and the notification is broadcasted with the approval of MHRD.
