The tribal Kinnaur district of this North western Himalayan state became the first district all over the country to administer both the doses of anti-Covid vaccine in cent per cent prescribed targetted population.
Deputy Commissioner Kinnaur Abid Hussain Sadiq announced at Reckong-Peo district headquarter while addressing media persons today.
“‘ A target was set to vaccinate a total of 60,305 persons of the district by the Government has been completed by the district today and both the vaccines were given to all persons of the district, which is a matter of pride for the state and the district. ” said Sadiq.
Congratulating health department for coming first across the country in providing anti-Covid vaccine to the district. He said that despite the dire circumstances of the district, the para-medical staff went to the ‘Dogris'( grazing shelter home) and Kandas (grazing halts or fields) and administered the vaccination to the shepherds and farmers, as a result of which the district was successful in achieving its goal.
DC also congratulated the district administration, sub-divisional officers and public representatives associated with Panchayati Raj institutions for coming first in the Covid vaccination of the district.
He said that representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions played an important role in making people aware about vaccination. Panchayat representatives went door-to-door to make people aware about vaccination, as a result of which the district has been able to achieve this position today.
He also thanked the local people for actively participating in the covid vaccination campaign of the district. He said that all the local people have contributed in making the vaccination campaign successful .
