Monsoon fury continues in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh as including a nine year old girl, two bodies were recovered from the muck and 15 others are untraced. NDRF teams were tracing people at Boh village after washing down of around one dozen houses.
The Met Office has said that the monsoon downpour will continue as high reaches and mid hills are witnessing incessant very heavy rainfall.
In last two days Palampur, Shahpur, Dharmshala and Kangra got unprecedented rainfall recording about 350 mm to 400 mm in past 48 hrs.
Shimla Met Office informed that Palampur got 365 mm rainfall in past 48 hrs. Palampur recorded 210 mm rainfall between 0830 hrs from Monday to 0830 hrs on Tuesday, Shahpur had 355 mm rain in past 48 hrs (264 mm on Tuesday and 91mm on Monday), Dharmshala received 349 mm rainfall in last 48 hrs (two days) as town recorded 230 mm rain till 0830 hrs Tuesday and 119 mm on Monday. In Kangra town about 213 mm was recorded, 148.5 mm rain till today and 65 mm yesterday.
Report arriving here that NDRF recovered a body from Boh village and 15 others are reported missing including cattle in yesterday’s flash flood. A person is also reported missing in Hamirpur district due to inflated nulah (rivulet). Rescue operation continues in the Boh area of Sahaupur division and the causality are likely to be rise.
The water level is continuedly swelling in the rivers with heavy rainfall occuring in the high reaches.
As many as 30 roads are reported to be blocked due to land slides and washing down of roads in many places.
