“The record hike or skyrocketing of fuel prices in the state was vehemently being opposed by various sections of people including commoners who have started agitating against it across the board now.”
The Mahila Congress lead by the state leader Jenab Chandel and All India Democratic Women Association (AIDWA) the ladies front of left parties lead by Falma Chauhan opposed the hike in Petrol, fuel and LPG prices.
The women fronts are staging protest and Dharnas in the state terming it insensitivity and a decision to support the big corporate oil companies. Protests were held at Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur district where the protesters lashed out at Jai Ram Thakur lead Himachal and Modi lead Central Government for burdening the people by this move.
The commuters at large who come forward to voice their concerns over the state of affairs said that people who have yet not recovered from the miseries of Covid pandemic are being additionally burdened, as prices of Petrol have risen from Rs 76 to Rs 95 in the state. The Home delivery of subsidised LPG gas would be more than Rs 800 with more hike expected in days to come, the protesters alleged.
Jenab Chandel said that people of state are facing number of problems due to rise in prices of Petrol and Diesel every passing day. She said that such decisions are pressing comman man to the wall. As a repurcassion of this price hike cost of transport has gone up, which is bound to effect every section of the society. These opposition parties also apprehended that the state transport recently hiked the tariff of buses and stage carriers. Adding, there is big possibility that this ongoing petrol/diesel hike may exert lot of pressure on the government to allow another hike in future.
