Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, while interacting with media, said that State Government was effectively tackling the menace of COVID-19 pandemic in the State. He said that Government has adopted three pronged strategy to deal with the situation in wake of threat of coronavirus.
Chief Minister said that Government had set up three types of institutions in the State where treatment of COVID-19 could be done. He said 24 COVID Care Centres have been established having bed capacity of 1300 patients for asymptotic people, 11 dedicated COVID Health Centres with bed capacity of 500 for moderate symptomatic people and severe symptomatic persons would be kept in four COVID Hospitals having capacity of 700 beds in the State.
Thakur said that there were 115 ventilators, 25,000 PPE Kits, 20 thousand N-95 masks in the State. He said Central Government has been urged to provide 60 more ventilators to the State to meet out the emergent situation.
Chief Minister said that medical fraternity was rendering yeoman service for the treatment of COVID-19 patients due to which 38 persons have been cured so far out of 65 reported cases. He said that proper training was being imparted to doctors and para medical staff to tackle the corona virus.
Thakur said that the top most priority of the State Government was to fight COVID-19 pandemic in the State but it was unfortunate that some opposition leaders were un-necessarily politicising the matter. He said that the Congress leaders should first have a look at the situation in the Congress ruled States like Punjab and Rajasthan as things were far much better in Himachal Pradesh than these States.
He said that the State Government has decided to conduct a magisterial inquiry by ADM Bilaspur regarding death of a youth of Swarghat who was referred to Shimla for treatment. He said that any laxity in this regard would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against erring officials.
Chief Minister said that as many as one lakh people have already reached the State from different parts of the country and thousands more are expected to arrive within next few days. He said that government has taken extra precautions to ensure that all these people were thoroughly medically examined and those coming from red zone would be kept in institutional quarantine.
