After the arrest of two Haryana police personnel, the Himachal Pradesh Police claim to have made further inroads into the Multi crore extortion racket active in the Industrial area of state. This matter was came to light earlier this month when the State police had arrested the prime accused Vinay Aggarwal. In a white collared crime Himachal Pradesh Police had nabbed the said accused who was impersonating himself as I.G of Central agencies allegedly collecting money from industrialists in the state. In the matter the Director General of state police had constituted a Special Investigation Team to further probe the crime and an extortion gang was alciamed to have been allegedly busted with arrest of the accused. https://himachalscape.com/accused-impersonating-as-central-agencies-cop-nabbed/
Today, the spokesperson of the state police said that further investigation revealed, the arrested police personal were part of the racket on the behalf of some senior officer from Haryana. He said that gang has extorted huge sum of money since the past several years from many industrialists by coercion.
Two uniformed Haryana police personnel Const Ravinder & Jail Warden Jasveer were accompanying kingpin of crime (Vinay Aggarwal) with automatic weapons. SIT, investigation has unraveled the linkages of the extortion by the gang at every level and the involvement of an official from Haryana.
He said that both personnel of Haryana police Const. Ravinder posted in district Sonipat and Jail Warden Jasveer posted in Jagadhari Jail Yamunanagar have been arrested by SIT. They have been remanded to 09 days police custody. Investigation continues to unravel complete gamut of extortion.
The spokesperson urged that the industrialists of Himachal Pradesh who are victims of this gang may come forward to approach the DGP and the SIT, without fear, so that justice is done and financial damage caused can be taken care by legal action. The Special Investigating Team (SIT) is headed by Rohit Malpani, IPS SP, Cyber Crime with Gaurav Singh, IPS SP-EOW, Virender Kalia, SP CID-Crime and other police officials. It was constituted on Jan 06 as FIR has registered at Police station, CID, Bharari (Shimla) against the accused person namely Vinay Aggarwal.
During the investigation by the SIT, it is revealed that accused Vinay Aggarwal and PSO’s of an officer from Haryana are just conduits, he added.
