Two HP soldiers martyred in Jammu

One of the martyrs, 25-year-old Pramod Negi, belonged to the Indian Special Forces Para Regiment and hailed from Shillai. He joined the “9” Para Regiment in 2017 and had been serving in the Special Forces for the last two years. Negi lost his life during a search operation in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir when terrorists triggered a blast, killing two soldiers and injuring four others, including an officer.
Naik Arvind Kumar, son of Ujwall Singh, from Suri(Chatiala) village in the Marhoon post office of Palampur subdivision in Kangra district also laid down his life in the same encounter.
The other three martyrs were Lance Naik Ruchin Singh Rawat, son of Rajendra Singh, from Kunigad village in Tehsil Gairsain, Uttarakhand; Paratrooper Siddhant Chettri, son of Kharka Bahadur, from PO Pulbazar in Darjeeling district of West Bengal; and Havaldar Neelam Singh, son of Gurdev Singh, from Dalpat village in PO Jourian, Akhnoor district of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued by the army, a defense spokesman said that army columns are carrying out continuous operations to flush out a group of terrorists who ambushed an army truck in Tota Gali area. According to intelligence, a joint operation was launched on May 3, 2023 based on specific information about the presence of terrorists in Kandi forest of Rajouri sector.
The families of the martyrs have been informed, and efforts are being made to collect all the necessary information so that the mortal remains of the martyrs can be taken to their native villages in a timely manner. The entire region is proud of the sacrifice made by these brave soldiers.
The mortal remains of both the martyrs are likely to reach their respective native states tomorrow, and they will be cremated with full military honors. The ex-servicemen organization Paonta Sahib and the Shillai area are standing with the families of the martyrs in this hour of calamity.
