In a protest against the sudden shutdown of Adani cement plants at Barmana in district Bilaspur and Darlaghat in district Solan, 40 truck operators in Darlaghat gave court arrest on Thursday morning. These operators were among those expressing anguish over the 45 day long closure of plants.
On Wednesday evening the operators took out a torchlight procession raising slogans against Adani Cement company Chairman and PM Modi.The arrested truck operators were later released by the police after completing the necessary formalities.
The transport operators stated that due to the monopoly of one corporate house there is lawlessness in the country as thousands of people had to come down on the roads after losing livilihood.
The truck operators across the state have given a call for chakka jam for February 4 and unions in all the districts have claimed to participate in it.
Meanwhile, to end the stalemate Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will be holding talks with both groups on February 3(Today). Sukhu met the truck operators on Wednesday also, while giving them invitation to attend talks.
However, as per delibrations amongst truck operators in Bilaspur and Darlaghat, so far, there is no consensus on reducing the freight rates from the current existing prices. In such a situation, seems, there is doubt that whether any solution would be tabled in the talks to be held on Friday.
On the other hand, the State has lost hundreds of Crore worth as GST due to the shutdown. It is worthwhile to mention that government had served notice to Adani Cement questioning them that, whether it is interested to start production and why not the lease of lands be cancelled.

Noteworthy, that after four days of the Congress government assuming power, the Adani Cement shut down both, Ambuja and Darlaghat Cement plants while blaming Truck operators for increase in freight charges. Adani Cement was seeking fixation of freight charges at a much less rates than the current prevailing price. The company management is also wanting to reduce the fleet of trucks being hired locally.
