Lahaul-Spiti XEN suspension row deepens: allegations against DC surface

The suspension of Senior Executive Engineer (XEN) Vijay Thakur of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL), posted in Lahaul-Spiti, has snowballed into a controversy after he accused Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kiran Badhana of “continuous humiliation and misbehaviour,” detailed in a letter sent to the HPSEBL Managing Director.
In his written representation, Thakur narrated incidents where he was allegedly “rebuked in public” by the DC during the district trade fair on August 14, and again on September 2, when he claimed he was made to wait outside her office before being asked to leave in “harsh words.” The letter, seeks the Board’s intervention against what Thakur described as repeated professional humiliation.
Thakur has alleged that his suspension followed soon after he forwarded the complaint to the Board’s top management. According to him, the conflict arose when the DC objected to his 34-day leave approval and pressed that he remain available to oversee restoration of power supply in the rain-hit tribal district. “I resumed duty on August 28 and made all efforts to restore supply after the disruption,” he maintained.
The Himachal Power Engineers’ Association has thrown its weight behind the suspended officer, demanding immediate revocation of the suspension order.
In a version quoted by a media report, Deputy Commissioner Lahaul- Spiti ,Kiran Badhana, has stated, “I had given my version to HPSEBL management on the basis of which the XEN was suspended and don’t want to add anything.
